Susan Oliver
Alaska Science Consortium
Oliver has worked in the Anchorage School District since 1989. She has taught in grades 3 and 4. She received a BS in Park Management and Recreational Planning from Northern Michigan University and a B.Ed from the University of Alaska Anchorage. She has also worked as a science teacher trainer for the ASD for over 10 years. She took the Alaska Science Consortium summer institute in 2003 in Sitka, and worked as an intern for the Alaska Science Consortium summer institute in Fairbanks in 2005.
Oliver loves the outdoor and all the wonders of Alaska. She enjoys spending time with her husband and dog rafting and fishing and what ever comes their way.
One of Oliver's most influential teachers was Dr Donna Gail Shaw, her science method professor, who showed her that science can be taught by any one who has a sense of wonder and curiosity.
Oliver was an Alaska Science Consortium Instructor for STEP in 2007.
